A Daith Ring for ears suppresses migraine...
... supposedly
I heard it first on The Doctors, who invited a woman with such earring claiming it reduced her 15 migraines a month to 1-2 a month.
There are very mixed reviews from ecstatic to a quite scathing article:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3214013/Woman-claims-EAR-PIERCING-cured-excruciating-migraines-left-housebound-vomiting.html
http://headacheandmigrainenews.com/daith-piercing-for-migraine-resources-and-updates/
http://headacheandmigrainenews.com/why-you-should-ignore-the-daith-piercings-for-migraine-hype/
It is hard to say whether it truly works or not. I would do it whatever the naysayers say,
out of pure curiosity even (yet, deep down one can't help but hope, too! ),
but alas I wear the Hearing Aids of which the earmolds completely block the place to pierce, so, sadly, I can not.
I do think the earring look great
Is anybody is going to try a Daith Ring?

I've been tempted, but since I'm on a blood thinner, they went pierce me right now. Hopefully after, unless I figure out that I shouldn't

Maybe it works like acupressure? But like so many things, results vary between people. I would suspect getting it in the right place makes a difference.

When I had the Migraine Nerve Decompression surgery in Boston, he cut both the trochlear nerves on each side and no migraines trigger from that site any longer. Actually, the only migraines firing now are sinus and I am getting ready to kick those to the curb if possible with sinus surgery.

May I ask what sinus surgery, Trinity?
I, too, suffer with chronic sinus inflammations, so frequently have to take antibiotics for at least 3 weeks, sometimes for 6.
Then it is better.

Risa:
I just saw the ENT surgeon yesterday. Septoplasty, Turbinate reduction and clearing/straightening the sinus canals. I had a CT Scan yesterday and go back next Tuesday for the Surgical plan, so I can be more specific in terms of medical terminology after that appointment !

Thanks Trini, and wow! that seem to be a lot of work.
The reason I asked is because in one of the last week (or two) The Doctors episodes, there was a woman who were like a born anew
after removing her deviated septum.
She said, she started suffering with M at 15 y.o. and how horribly - almost daily, sometimes suffered 3 days straight with severe long episode,
always in a dark room in a bed (or, if I understood correctly - rather on the floor next to her bed?).
For years she tried everything from traditional to alternative therapies, seen many doctors with no help whatsoever.
Until she met dr Smith:
... and undergo surgery during which the deviated fragment was successfully removed - dr Smith showed it to the camera.
The lady said how afterwards the M stopped and she felt fantastic, so full of energy like 20 again- she is 40 now
The Lady (it's graphic at one point, please be warned)
Of course I went immediately to my Fam Dr since I, too suffer from chronic sinus and antibiotics help a lot - but unfortunately she said
I don't have any deviated septum. I however am not convinced if the MRI my ENT ordered sometime last year would show if I have this.
Maybe to really find this, many angles have to be done specifically on the sinuses, and I had just general MRI of the head, face, ears and neck?
In April I have ENT apptmnt again so I will inquire about it again.
When you wrote about your surgery I thought immediately that perhaps, you too, should ask about thoroughly checking your sinuses for teh deviated septum?
Regardless, I wish you good luck with current procedures! and a speedy recovery!

Oh, a 'missing plug in' just means you don't have a necessary Y-T flash player plug in.
I have Windows 10 hence most apps updated, so maybe that's why it opens for me but not for you.
(I can see the attached clip here with no plms)
Anyway, hmmmm, I think you should either update your YouTube player or try to find these videos over there by yourself:
"The Migraine Cure: 88% Success rate at Houston's Smith Centre" - this short clip should show Dr Smith
(the African- American gentleman, as to not to mistake his identity since 'Smith' is such a popular name) talking.
"Could The Cause of Your Migraines Be In Your Nose?" - this video should show Dr Travis Stork from The Doctors
the The Dr's show set and then a lady speaking about her M/D.S. experience and Dr Smith operating (they don't show much).
Hope that helps!

Re: A Daith Ring for ears suppresses migraine...
Trin- this sounds exactly like my procedure, barring a few updates in tech and terminology from back when I did mine. My surgery was long before my migraines began, so no harm no foul for my migraines. i really hope its your magic bullet
