If you were filthy rich....
... would you get yourself tested for every possible, even obscure, disease involved with headaches
to get to the root of your migraine?
I think I would....

Re: If you were filthy rich....
i'm not filthy rich....(but that would be nice), but i've been tested for just about everything. we've found multiple sources that would cause migraine and are treating the diseases as best as possible.
one thing to remember, test for enough stuff, and you'll eventually find problems with not just one thing, but everything. more tests, more procedures, more meds....i'm not sure if the payoff is worth the risk.
just for my heart, i've been exposed to huge amounts of test radiation. enough to be a concern where it needs to be tracked.
next stop in test-land, is to pull samples from my bone marrow.
not fun.

Re: If you were filthy rich....
Well good point Marc,
and sorry for your going thru all those rough patches.
yes, certainly being radiated so many times is a reason to be concerned.
What I had in mind was more like all those possible causes we once had the thread about
"Other diseases connected with migraine?"
https://migrainehelp.forumotion.net/t253-other-diseases-connected-with-migraine
and I was wondering if I was rich, if I could afford it, would I want to be tested for every single one.
What inspired me for this is I am currently reading "Chocolate & Vicodin" by Jennette Fulda (very sweet book, btw)
and how she is being offered so many possible causes for her everlasting headache by Internet posters.
She was suggested at one point, that her headache could be caused by
a "rare condition caused by pressure on the anterior ethmoid nerve in the nose".
I was thinking, hmmm, we do are given so many possible feasible along with the -un-feasible reasons to our pain.
But do we check every single one of them? No. Why?
Well because it's costly, for starters.
No doctor is going to justify the spending to the insurance carrier or to the government in my case, endless spending.
Especially if for the most part there is lack of the other symptoms, me finks...
Second, precisely because if you don't show some obvious other symptoms like growing a second skeleton,
what's the point anyway, eh? That one I suppose can be safely skipped from the trial.
Still, for those that are viable - I think I would go for it.

I dont think it would help. I've spent plenty and tried everything. I don't know of anything else left to try at any cost.

Re: If you were filthy rich....
Oh, no. Certainly not tested for them all. But many have been ruled out or addresed (eg I've been treated for Lymes disease, I'm taking magnesium and hormones). And many I don't have the other symptoms that would indicate it's applicable.
But really, I don't know of anything more to do if only I had a hundred grand lying about. I've tried every medication they could think of, had all sorts of neck injections, botox, accupuncture, chiropractic, had massage twice a week, bought fancy new desk chairs and computer monitors, consulted a surgeon, the works. I've been to the ENT, neurologists, pain specialists, dentists and optometrists.
If I thought there was something that would fix this, I'd do it.

Re: If you were filthy rich....
That's a good question...not rich, but have spent money over the migraines..just from medication alone..then add dr visits, ER..etc.
I have had a lot of tests due to other health problems..honestly, I don't want any other test..it seems like ever test that I've taken lately has led to another diagnosis of something..
Sorry, head is starting to hurt now..don't think I really answered the question..

Re: If you were filthy rich....
On the contrary, you did very well Wendy.
You are saying sometimes tests can be so confusing that instead of clearing up the matters,
they can make things even more murky and impossible to treat.
I am so very sorry your doctors left you hanging up to dry, without hope or at least effective pain treatment.
I am angry along with you, sweetheart, wishing I could repeatedly kick the males in the nuts and drag the females
by hair thru the thorny bushes. (only the bad ones, of course, I'm sure there were some who truly tried)
Maybe together we could at least think of some effective pain relief combo for you, sweetie?
If you think you could feel comfortable stating what you already tried for your M,
then perhaps you could start a new thread about it and we will put all our head together how to help you?
Risa

Re: If you were filthy rich....
No, I wouldn't. Because only you guys understand the disappointment when the Doctor says "the tests say you're fine". My hubby does not understand the tears that follow that.
Plus, I'm sure celebrities like pro football players, The impersonators wife who committed suicide due to them, Larry Kings wife, have spend a ton of money and still dont know why.
We all have such different triggers etc. I think migraine disease is more of a catch all like cerebal palsy. It means you have bad bad headaches and we don't why.

He can fix everyone on this forum. He has a 100% success rate!!!
I'm being sarcastic...

Itwould be interesting to know how he would eliminate weather fronts!
And I think many of us have tried magnesium and riboflavin.
Charlatans!

He probably waves a magic- excuse me- his weatherman wand (made of Magnesium) in the air, and makes them disappear..

2. Charlotte, from what i read recently I think Mrs King didn't commit suicide, I think she attempted it and then was committed.
with this out of way,
1. yeah I totally get you Char.
we so wish something could be found, preferably easy to cure that would once and for all put the stop to this HeII on Earth.
I am the same like you, and I suspect every single one of us Mig-ers, in this aspect - we can't help but want to sob
at the news there is totally nothing wrong with us
3. Yes, yes, eventually it probably does would come to this- after tons of filthy expensive tests it would come to a one devastating diagnosis:
"it's just migraine"... but, still since the vast majority of our migraines and severe headache aren't really that extensively investigated,
there is a possibility that at least one person in 100 can have some underlying condition that would be miraculously discovered
and finally, helped. Dream on, eh?
