Back from vacation

Hi all,

I'm back to work (yeech) and had a great time. Fidel is a great vacation buddy. Neither one of us are schedule keepers (hard for me when I don't know how I'll feel) so it was nice to just go with the flow. We went to the Mini Horse show in Reno, did a little gambling (won $90 woohoo! - paid for my incidentals and beads), found a rock and gem show right next to the horse arena so I was in a bit of heaven. I got a new pyrite sphere for my collection and I found a guy there who was clearing out his stock so I got a LOT of beads for $2.50 a strand!

I got some amethyst, lapis lazuli, blue topaz and three different colors of green jade. So far I made a topaz and silver necklace and earrings and a lapis and topaz set. This is the Lapiz and topaz one.

We hiked about 10-12 miles up Mt Diablo and I 'm still sore!

Only two bad migraines in 9 days so all in all a great vacation.

Welcome back. I'm so glad you had a great trip. I've never thought of getting rocks and gems while travelling abroad. What a great idea.

My preferred souvenir from any trip I take is a rock egg or sphere for my collection. Finding all the beads was a huge bonus. It's not always easy to find one but I lucked out this time.

The Lapiz and topaz necklace and earrings are right up my alley - I love black colors. I am impressed you did it yourself!

I am a bit sentimental about bead necklaces as my mother used to wear them - it was very fashionable in her time,
and this is how I remember her - always properly dressed in feminine attire and some bead necklace.
Sometimes she wore brooches, but not that often.

Some of her necklaces I have to this very day.

Lucky you finding a great vacation mate! Unfortunately for me, hubby is not it. I like to stop and meander and look at Historical road markers. He wants to get on the four lane and get where he's going. Oh, and be back home in three days or less. Ugh.

My eldest was the best to travel with. We would ambigu-schedule. We have a vague idea of what we want to do but if something more interesting comes up, then great. And if we're tired we take a nap. But, he went and got married on me and it's not the same.
