The three genes are TRPM8, LRP1 and PRDM16. The first plays a role in sensitivity to cold and pain,
while the second is involved in the transmission of signals between neurons,
Xinhua reported quoting the study Sunday.

hmmm maybe finally this will explain why I always have cold feet and hands and feel so cold always, too..

One of the things I learned in some of my past migraine education was that most people who suffer migraines have fingertips that remain around 70 degrees. I ALWAYS have and have always had cold fingers and toes myself! I found that tid bit interesting.

I'm sitting here under a blanket freezing cold, and it's the middle of June. My husband is perfectly comfortable.

You are like me, MG!!

I need at least 26-27'C - 78'F-80'F to feel comfortable and warm.
Everybody around me are fanning themselves. my husband is going berserk because he is feeling so hot!
me- I am merely content. and happy Smile

Hmmm. I am the opposite. I am always extremely warm and love the thermostat set at 68! It is not just a mid life thing, I have been like that since I can remember. My husband used to complain that I was making him get sick. Luckily, as he gets older, he is less tolerant to heat.
Hugs,
Cindy

I suspect it has something to do with our thermo regulatory system in general. Pressure, volume and temperature are all inter related. So the fact that they use beta blockers which affect blood pressure as treatments, and many of us use ice on the head, suggests to me that this whole system is not working correctly. Hence we are effected by temperature extremes more, many are effected by air pressure changes associated with the weather or air travel, etc... A healthy body could adapt much more easily to these changes, and we do not somehow.

I am glad they are finding the genes. It will eventually lead to discovering the nuero peptides or whatever that we dont have enough of or have too much of so they can treat the underlying causes rather than the symptoms. I just hope they figure this out sooner rather than later.
