What is Summer?... does anybody know?...
I can't believe it's June, let alone June 23rd, almost the end of the month.
It's so cold and it's been raining most of the time!
After awful spring, looks like we are going to have awful summer, too!
I don't know about you guys but I still have to 'fire off' my old wooden stove in the morning and sometimes in the evening!
normally by now, I would be sitting on my patio with a book in a lap enjoying the sun and the warmth.
what's going on!
this girl needs her sunshine!

Re: What is Summer?... does anybody know?...
We finally got our summer. Today is a lovely 80 and it is perfect outside. Went to the Giants game yesterday in SF and it was gorgeous. Just needed a light sweater. San Francisco is notorious for being colder in the summer as the fog comes in. I live about 30 miles inland and the temps there are always a good 20-30 degrees warmer. We even had a couple of days of over 100. But the next few days are 80's and 90's. YAY!

Re: What is Summer?... does anybody know?...
that's nice.. sigh... :]
In the mid-80ties, I've been to SF for a few days on vacation.
Indeed, I was surprised to find it despite being part of California, sunny but cold city!
The wind is making it so cold. From the ocean, I guess.
Still, it is a lovely city.
I wouldn't mind to come visit it again sometime. I had a blast at Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown

It's the same here in Calgary Risa, we can't believe it's almost July and the days are drawing in already, I can't remember when we had such a wet spring and now summer, and the mosquitoes are dreadful. I don't think you get too many of those in BC do you? How far are you from the ocean? I have my brother visiting me from Wales and I'm hoping for more sunshine as he gets a lot of rain there.

Since SF has the bay on one side and the ocean on the other, in the summer they get fog, fog and more fog. We always tell visitors if you are going to the city to take a jacket. Of course since where we live, 30 miles inland, it is usually 90-100, they think we are silly, UNTIL they get there and have to buy an overpriced jacket cause they are freezing their butts off. The best time to visit SF is in the winter as the roles reverse. The water keeps it a bit warmer, while we shiver out in the suburbs.
We lucked out when my son got married last June. I was so afraid the fog was going to roll in and freeze us all. It was an outdoor wedding in Stern Grove, but the weather was unusually warm that day. I took it as a good omen for their marriage!

I am, depending on the traffic, 30 to 45 min from the ocean with a beach Ruth, which is in White Rock.
I'm in Surrey

I can also get to the ocean in Vancouver where I can enjoy it at the beaches at English Bay, Kitsilano area.
But now with the traffic it may take up to one hr to drive!
grrrr
Jericho beach is probably the most popular Vancouver beach, it's number 3 in English Bay
