Is Jewish Mother back from her trip?
I'm anxious to hear how her trip went especially since I'm heading that way next year. I hope her friends health held up.
So, when you have time, L, please report! Favorite restaurants, etc.
Thanks!

Re: Is Jewish Mother back from her trip?
Thanks for checking up on me! We got home at 2:00 this morning - it was a wonderful trip and both my friend and I did pretty well. We made the decision to take it slow and not overschedule our days and also to avoid the larger crowds and not go to the Louvre and the D'Orsay. We stayed in the Montmartre district (where Sacre Coeur is located) which is on the outskirts of Paris but our hotel was right near a metro stop and near a market and small cafes and shops. The metro was very easy to use and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a train. If you use the metro to get around the only thing I would recommend is to make sure once you leave the metro that you have good directions because we discovered that there wasn't very good signage and we did expend some time and energy going in the wrong direction once we left the metro.
We were there 8 nights and even though we had to hole up in our hotel room in the evenings due to my migraines we were able to make it to all the places we wanted to go. We would chose 1 thing we wanted to do each day and once that was done if we had extra time and energy we would take out the metro map and the guidebook and decide on our next stop. I really enjoyed the Orangerie Museum and the Rodin Museum. Other highlights included the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Elysees, Notre Dame and the Chateau de Vincennes. We found the best food at the smaller cafes - we did discover that it was much less expensive to carry our water with us (never saw a water fountain) - few restaurants serve tap water at no cost and buying bottled water or any other drink was costly. I think that is all for now - body and mind still exhausted but if you have any other questions please let me know! L
