My son and daughter in law want a couple of my raspberry bushes, does anybody know when the best time of year to transplant them is?

I've heard at the garden centers long time ago, Oct to March is the best time
but if you dig a large enough a root with surrounding soil, then it may still take in now.

However, if you decide to do it now you will have to water thoroughly all summer.
