Curious question about wedding rings Empty Curious question about wedding rings

I was given a very beautiful ring when I got engaged. It has a gorgeous princess-cut canadian diamond in it. The ring was made for me. The diamond was picked out and then the ring was designed.

The setting is so that the diamond is set in the ring, so there is nothing to get caught on anything either at my work or just during my active every day life.

The setting is so great....but....it made a not-so-small diamond look small because most of it is set under the ring.

I have always wanted a solitaire.

My partner was upset when the ring arrived as it made the diamond look smaller, so we had always talked about possibly getting it re-set.

We agreed to do it for our fifth wedding anniversary. I want to do it.....but....

Do you think it's wrong to alter the ring I was given? Will it change my luck for love? Is it worth it when I really don't care about the size of the diamond? I think it will make the diamond look so much prettier. The diamond was purchased in Yellowknife and has a lot of sentiment to it....so the diamond is really the important part.

What do you all think?

Reset it. My mother had a very expensive diamond in a setting that made it look cheap. After she passed away my sister had it reset and it is GORGEOUS with a giant G.

I agree, it's the sentiment that's important, and a new setting won't change that. Just don't set it too high. My diamond was set higher, and I've had the prongs repaired, still lost the stone, reset the located stone, in titanium, and the prongs are still bending. I think I need a setting like yours, since I'm really had on rings, apparently.

An anniversary is a great time to make the change - go together and pick out a new setting............if you want to keep the old ring you can also have a different stone put in it.........maybe your birthstone or your partner's?
