Why you ask? Because I going to be a GRANDMA! flower

I feel fifteen years younger and floating on air. My son and his wife have been married a little over a year. They are 11 weeks pregnant. They heard the heartbeat Friday. I asked if my son got teary eyed and was told no, but that he had the biggest smile on his face that she's ever seen (and they've been together over ten years, they're high school sweethearts).

It will be a little while until they find out the sex of the baby.

Oh man...I'm in heaven.... I love you

My DIL has been very gracious over the years listening to my pathetic voice whining "I want one" whenever I'd see a baby. Very gracious.

My father actually mentioned today that he'd love another grandbaby. I told him to start working on my brother, because between my weight and the migraines, I'm not conceiving anytime soon. My mom's been much more patient, but I think that after ten years married, they think I should be attempting conception. Truthfully, since the cafergot is the only thing that kicks some of the migraines, I'd rather wait or even not have biological kids, over having kids who's arms or legs are attached backwards that I could have avoided having. My brother and SIL are the ones who had the first grandson, so dad can wait for them to have another.

But I'm truly happy for you! I love the thought of having a child, but I want a healthy baby, and I can wait til the school stress is gone, and I CAN go a few months without the meds that could abort or disform a baby. Sorry, your thread brought out a but of my emotional baggage from my family.

Take care!

No worries, Sara. I love the forum because it's like having a conversation. It doesn't always stay on track but we learn more about each other!

I don't know about others, but I was pregnant twice and never had a problem with migraines during the pregnancy. But at that time of my life they were not chronic, so I can't compare to what you're going through.

Congratulations, Grandma Charlotte!

All is right in my world Grandm10

I am looking forward to making virtual bet's if its going to be a girl or a boy :]
I have a hunch it's boy! :]

Also, we can start baby names game!

Sarah - I can sense you feel very guilty - please DON'T.

I also resigned from having any more children EVER after my hellish next miscarried pregnancy which followed my daughter.
We DO NOT deserve to suffer so horrifically just because our families want more children.
We Do NOT deserve suffer so badly even if WE want to have more children ourselves!
We do can adopt, if that is an option..

And the relatives - they can all go to .... or they can go ... for their lack of understanding and sensitivity and simply good manners.

When my son and DIL got married last year I told them that I would promise to quit teasing them about where my grandchildren were. My DIL said "Why?". I explained that since they were married it was "for real" now, I didn't want to be putting pressure on them. She laughed and laughed and told me it wouldn't be the same if I didn't go goo-goo everytime I saw a baby.

Had I not had permission from them I wouldn't have dreamed on bringing it up. It is such a personal decision.

Risa, as always you are queen Of the emoticons. Okay, what are baby name games? I think I might have sent her a contender, because she usually responds, "no, none in that bunch". This time I haven't heard a word..........hmmm.

Risa, thank you, I agree on the family thing.

My parents I try to be honest with, but I have an aunt who began to be a busybody after her first grandchild was born, and I told my hubby I was tempted to burst into tears the next time she remarked, and 'sob' something about having tried for so long, and how could she be so mean. Twisted Evil I knew it was a wicked thought, but I got tired of her rudeness. I think I told my mom I was thinking of trying this, and she told my aunt to back off.

Hubby's family has been mostly kind enough to stay out of the kids debate. I guess they were certain we were pregnant when we got engaged (ha). His grandmother said something at Christmas, but I'll give her a pass, since she's getting rather severe Alzheimer's, and doesn't have much memory at this point, so she may really not know what she'd said, or remember why she shouldn't ask.

I'll join the bet! I'm all for the granddaughter team! But so long as everyone's healthy, I'll gladly lose.

Charlotte, I find these smileys especially for you! I love you

Now, the baby names games.

It's something like this - we basically write the names we think they'll name the baby, all the more fun since we don't know
the gender yet

and the winner is of course the person who guesses right, lolol

I found it here:
http://www.fringebloggers.com/the-baby-name-game/

Sara - a girl, you say :]

we have one vote for boy, one for girl, then :]

score:
1 -boy
1-girl
