Migraine ain’t an addiction

When people have chronic pain, the issue of using potentially habit-forming painkillers, like narcotics, comes up pretty often.
[..................................................................................................................................................................................................]
Many patients were even referred because doctors would be uncomfortable that the patient was taking too many pain pills. Which leads to the question, “Is this patient addicted?”
[...................................................................................................................................................................................................]
Often, when people seem to be overusing painkillers, this is because the pills aren’t helping and they’re hoping just taking more will make a difference—which it usually doesn’t.
True, OVER using does not help, but also it is important to both the doctor and the patient to recognize
when and if more of the same pain medication is needed.
Overusing medication to improve your headaches is generally not helpful—but this is not addiction.
Finally!

Thank you
I hate it when doctors generalize all of us with the addict analogy.

Yeah, me too.
that's why I thought at least this one makes a modicum of sense.
Not that very great, but acceptable.
For instance, I disagree with the opinion that narcotic pain relief is generally not helpful with migraines.
Me thinks it is. Particularly if combined with triptans. Yep. Lookie here.
