Tornadoes!!

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in the tornado states.

I live in the Cascadia Subduction Zone which covers parts of northwestern US and British Columbia. We are prone to many and sometimes huge earthquakes and tsunamis.

There's no way in the world I would change my shaky ground for your tornadoes. Earthquakes are usually over in a matter of seconds, although it came seem much longer at the time.

You poor folks have to hear that damn thing coming for you. I couldn't handle it. No way. I'll take my earthquakes, thank you.

PS Risa, a million apologies for taking soooo long to check in here. Work at the beginning of the year is crazy busy. I'm sad that I missed the cake. Is there any of it left in the freezer?

I'm in Kansas, I and all my family are fine. We feel for those who lost their homes and the family who lost a family member here in our state, but we also know that's part of living out here. I'm just glad that we're in an area where basements are possible, that's the safest area to go to if something's heading our way.

Last April we got hit with golf ball sized hail...nothing like a major migraine while the entire neighborhood is getting new roofs, windows and some siding. Right after it happened, Joplin MO got hit by the tornado. You really count your blessings that you've only got property damage, and you've still got a perfectly stable roof overhead, even if it does need replaced.

I hope everyone else is doing OK, and anybody else in the Midwest is safe.

I know there were many more tornadoes today, is everyone OK?

Lots and lots of hail today and high winds but we are north of areas of Indiana that were hit by the tornadoes. Know a family whose children's school was destroyed but everyone who was inside the school survived. Our neighbor went into labor this morning and with all the hail and storms they delayed going to the hospital a little too long and baby was born at home............we have decided to nickname him Thor the god of Thunder. Hope everyone else is okay! L

Gosh, what stories! worthy of a Hollywood movie!
But I am very glad everyone seem to be okay, looks like.

After they've settled down safe and sound, I wonder if them kiddies are secretly glad that the school is out for awhile?

Today we are expecting wind gusts at 55 mph+. Two days ago it was 16 degrees and snowing, yesterday it was 68 degrees and very windy. With conditions like that no wonder the weather is being particularly nasty.

I have seen on TV the miraculous story of one father who was swept in tornado with his two kids.
He hold onto his son, but his daughter was ripped away from him, and he was devastated he lost her.

He prayed to God he never asked for much but to spare his lost child, went to his sister house to leave his son
so he (the father) can go on looking for the daughter, and here she was, safe and sound at his sister's door! :]
The whole family reunited :]
