Strange new symptoms???
For a while now I have had a series of oddities. What's new right? Well I just wanted to give a run down to see if anything sounds familiar. I have serious joint stiffness. I have had it for years in my knees and sometimes in my hips (they almost come out of joint, I can usually roll them back it, but it can hurt). The past year or so I have noticed the stiffness progressing to my ankles, feet, and even up into my lower back. I have actually fallen down the stairs on several occasions, because my feet don't want to bend. Usually this is in the morning or late evening.
I have had a positive ANA, arthritis test I guess, and was trying to work with a Rheumatologist who kind of was well...worthless. I have an appt with someone new June 25th. This stiffness really is causing a lot of trouble for me. I have test results from the worthless Rheum to take with me, and I don't know if they will tell us anything, but really that is all I got out of him, the results! I can't really decipher them myself.
Another issue is some tingling. My lower (usually) legs. I can't quite say I have tingling sensations, more like tickling. I have even felt like a fly landed on me and was walking around. It doesn't hurt at all just tickly. It is completely sporadic and sometimes happens often and sometimes will be months before it happens again. I talked with my Neuro about the stiffness and the tickly leg thing and she is certain it isn't MS or MD, or anything really neuro related. Actually she referred me to the new Rheum when I told her about the issues with the worthless one!
I must say that I fell pretty nervous about this. I am just about 35. I really don't think I should feel this stiff, unless something is going on. This nagging thought in my head is pushing me to deal with all of this, because I am so afraid if I just ignore it I will not be walking in 10 or so years. I don't usually get freaked like that without good reason and I have learned to trust my "gut" when it is telling me something is wrong.
I am just wondering if anyone has had these issues, or knows anyone with this sort of issue that might be around my age. Thanks for helping, any suggestions or somments are appreciated!

Re: Strange new symptoms???
I have those symptoms from Lyme disease, even after several years of treatment. The crawly sensation is awful because I think it is a tick. We just moved to a place where ticks are really bad. I have seen 12 in the house in the past 2 weeks we have lived here!
They have come in on me and the dogs. Anyway, if you think you could have Lyme, you need to see a Dr. with a lot of experience. They call them LLMD (Lyme literate medical doctor). The tests are very unreliable, and these Docs know what to look for. Hope you dont have, but worth looking in to!
Hugs,
Cindy

Re: Strange new symptoms???
Thanks I will consider this. I know that years ago when I had first started with the migraines I was tested for Lyme disease, however it has been quite a while ago, and if the tests aren't that reliable....Well. It may be worth checking out again. Thank You!

No, you really need to be checked quite a number of times especially if the infection took place
long time ago, and by a good, reputable Lyme specialist.
A regular doctor is really not knowledgeable about Lyme,
which is routinely underreported, underdiagnosed and undertreated.
I highly recommended to seek one (a specialist) to either confirm or reject this diagnosis.

Re: Strange new symptoms???
Steph,
If you are having trouble rising from a chair with your aches and pains, google polymyositis.

Steph, I know how you feel. Try and hunt down the best rheum you can find.
Marion has a great suggestion regarding polymyositis.
