Amazon shopping...
Does anyone of you guys shop at Amazon?
I was wondering if it is worth and SAFE? - signing up with them to buy some dvd that aren't available anywhere else.
I am looking for Sukiyaki Western Django and Welcome to Collinwood and looks like the cheapest way is thru amazon.ca for us Canadians.
I worry about security, though - I would be using my vee-sah card, eh.
Any advice?

Milo - what about S&H - do they charge exactly what they advertise? no hidden costs?

No hidden shipping costs, and I've signed up for Prime with them. I grab many of the household paper goods (TP, paper towels, kleenex, and not paper, but Kitty litter), and have them delivered to the door for free. I also grab many of the free Kindle books, since I've always used reading for an escape.

Re: Amazon shopping...
I looked up the Prime while I was checking out A yesterday, but I thought after initial free offer there is a charge of about $80 yearly for this account
or I misunderstood?

Yes, it does have a fee per year. I'm getting a discount on it, since I had a student e-mail address (ends in .edu). They gave me 2 years completely free, and after that I can get 4 more at half price. I plan to then use my work e-mail (teaching hospital, so another .edu) to either sign myself up again, or sign up my husband, using my e-mail to confirm I've got a .edu e-mail.
There are other discount programs for parents of young children and caregivers of other people. Theoretically, you could use the second as you're caring for your own ongoing health difficulties. Or if that doesn't sit right with you, sign your SO up, and just use their amazon for most purchases (what DH and I do).
I also need to share that I typically place at least 1 order per week, so even at full price, it would be worth it to me. If you only place 1-10 orders per year, it wouldn't be, but I've had weeks where 5-10 boxes hit my porch.

Thank you Sarah.
I probably won't order enough to warrant the Prime but if I ever get 'Amazon crazy', I'll do what you do

Amazon can be very addictive. Knowing I only have to get the litter in from the porch, instead of in the cart, on the belt, back in the cart, in the trunk, and into the house makes prime worth every penny.

Re: Amazon shopping...
Yes, yes yes, the ease of shopping with Amazon is amaz(o)ng!! lolol
I have ordered mostly DVD movies as they had a lot of movies either not available anymore or hard to find or expensive comparing to A.
For example after watching Django Unchained I discovered nobody of my friends has seen Sukiyaki Western Django, but it's
unavailable here anymore.
Maybe if I ordered at some 20-25 bucks and up, but at Amazon they started for as little as 2.99. So even if I had to pay for S&H it was way cheaper
than ordering a ta local store. YaY!

Re: Amazon shopping...
Perhaps it is because postage is traditionally so expensive in Canada that it keeps us from ordering?

Re: Amazon shopping...
I told you I use it a LOT. It's very handy, just very addictive. This week I've gotten two more bags of kitty litter, a couple of cat toys designed to slow down my fat boy's eating rampage (27 pounds, gained 3 pounds in 3 months, and insulin dependent, so losing weight's important), and new shoes for work.

Re: Amazon shopping...
lol Sara
Definitely postage is an issue here. I always check first if the company offers free S&H to or in Canada. and how much do I have to spend
before it kicks in.
At Chapters it's available at $25 Can and over, plus Irewards members h.ave an additional %% of the price, just can't remember how much.
And oh yeah, online prices are so much better than in the store.
And, they don't sell books only - some DVD, toys, home stuff, greetings cards, stationery, others tchotchkies.
For example,
today I bought a pretty white with pink stars scarf on 50% off sale - with tax, just under 19 bucks. It's a very thin cotton. Me likey.

Yes, for me I was very careful before as shipping was so high. Now many places do ship as you described. I know I often buy a lot of clarence clothes from Old Navy. I keep some of it but most of it I donate to the woman's shelter ....they get brand new, still in the package clothes for super cheap!

Re: Amazon shopping...
Hmm, my last Amazon order I had my CC info hacked off of their website as they were the direct vendors. Amazon contacted me to let me know security had been compromised and my CC company took care of everything.
Never had a problem with them in the past.
