Switching from Lortab to Norco
Hi Friends I know it has been a long time for me to post on the migraine side. I have been doing very poorly lately.
My doctor switched me from Lortab to Norco because of the Tylenol amount. I am not doing well. Could I be having some type of withdrawal of Tylenol? I was taking the Lortab 10/500 now the Norco 10/325. I know that less Tylenol is good and if this is the reason I am having such a hard time kicking the headaches, then does anyone have an estimate as to how long this withdrawal lasts?
I am to the point of shutting down at times. Luckily or not luckily however you want to look at it, I am on vacation now from work. I am getting nothing done! No energy and always in pain! I hate this!! I am turning 60 next month and thought that the older I got the better my headaches would get. HA, well that is a joke! Any thoughts on that one too?
I appreciate any thoughts on either or both my questions. I am in so much pain and getting depressed as well. I am sure you all know exactly how I feel since we have all unfortunately been in this boat before. I pray we all get some type of improvement as the years move forward.
thank you all

Re: Switching from Lortab to Norco
Depending on how many of those you were taking per day, it is possible you were getting some rebound from the Tylenol and now that you are getting less Tylenol are having some additional pain from the lower Tylenol amount. It's not a very significant difference and I wouldn't expect you to have much trouble making this change. Check w/ your doctor.
More importantly, are you reporting to your doctor how poorly you are doing overall? It seems like your headaches are not being managed. Are you taking any preventatives?

Agreed that doesn't sound right and you should definitely follow up with your doctor. It could be worsening rebound from less Tylenol. If it is rebound, then the only way to stop that is to take a few week break from the med (which you'd need to do under doctor guidance). But I'd think that within days or weeks your body would become accustomed to less Tylenol.
My only other idea is that there was a brand change and you are really sensitive to any slight change in active ingredient (hydrocodone). But by law there can only be very slight variations. Were there any other recent changes? Sorry you are struggling. Best wishes.

Re: Switching from Lortab to Norco
Thank you for your replies. I recently went to a different doctor and they said my bp was high. I talked with my primary care today and we agreed to up my bp medicine. Between that and the Tylenol I think that was it.
I have been having a lot of stress in my family life lately and that also is playing a role. I just cannot take it when I take a pain med and it does not work because my headache is so bad and not controlled.
I have tried preventatives many times in my life and they either did not work or caused me other side effects that it was not worth it.
Thanks for your advice!
