Appointment with Surgeon

Post  7777Trinity on Sun 29 Dec 2013, 6:38 pm

Hi All:

Just an update. I have an appointment with the surgeon in Boston on January 23rd, 2014. He is the Nerve Decompression surgeon. He has an 80% success rate of complete ablation of migraine. I will take any % I can get. The nurse said my surgery will be scheduled for February.

The January appointment is the evaluation to determine where he will cut and which nerves he will either decompress or cut apart so they can't send pain messages.

I am very hopeful. Please keep me in your prayers that I will make it until then. The migraines seem to be much harsher taking days to recover from and then I still don't feel normal.

Thanks for being here Smile

So are you going to stay in Boston until your surgery or go home first? Is the procedure being done at one of the Boston hospitals? I sure hope it works for you.

Platy:
I am coming home after my evaluation/plan appointment and then fly back for surgery in February. The surgery is being done at Boston Mass General and the surgeon is a Harvard grad; his name is William Gerald (Jay) Austen, JR.

Our daughter and her husband and children live in Boston. We will be staying with them after I am discharged from the hospital I will not be able to travel for a week or so and will have a post op appointment before leaving Boston.

Trinity,

I really hope that you can get reprieve from migraine pain. Did you have to discuss your cardiac history with the doc? Usually they are quite restrictive given a cardiac history.

I wish you best of luck and all goes. You've had a rough time and deserve some good results!
