Update on my visit with the Cardiologist today.

Post  Ruth on Tue 11 Mar 2014, 8:40 pm

To cut it short, it turns out my Arrhythmia is harmless but it's possible that some time down the road I may need a pacemaker if my pulse rate gets so low that I feel dizzy etc.

I told her that I had Pulmonary Embolism 3 years ago (blood clots on both lungs) and she was surprised that my doctor didn't send me to a Hematologist afterwards to check on the thickness of my blood because nothing was done to find out what could have caused it.

She's sending a letter to my doctor to advise him to do this. I have been so tired of our family doctor, he's pathetic lately. I've seen him recently (more than once) about a one sided sore throat that I've had for
3 months now. My sister in law had the same symptoms and it turned out to be throat cancer. I know I should change doctors but it's hard to find any that are taking new patients.

Anyway I was telling the Cardiologist all this and she was great, she told me she is going to get in touch with my doctor about this too, so we'll see. I want to see an ENT specialist but my doctor doesn't think it's necessary and said even if he did refer me, it would take 3 to 6 months to get in to see one.

Thanks for listening Smile

Ruth, good to know it's non-life threatening arrythmia. I am also quite please at least this doctor takes seriously your other health issues,
and really hope your fam dr will do as advised.
So what if the waiting is up to 6 months, sometimes it takes up to one year to get anywhere but if you have to, you have to.
then once you are registered you don't have to wait that long for another appmnt in future, and it's good, too.

Please, please, search for another fam dr! I know how disheartening chore it can be, but then so well worth it.

Risa
