Finally!! I got the approval and have scheduled the surgery!!

I finally got the approval from the insurance company.  I met with the surgeon and have tentatively scheduled the Nerve Decompression Surgery for April 25th.  I have to do the psych eval first so I scheduled that for 4-11-14.  

I'm nervous and hopeful.  Per the doctor, surgery takes about 2 hours due to positioning, etc... The full recovery takes about 90 days he said.  He said I'll be in pain for about the full 90 days before I will notice any improvement.  Part of me hopes that since I'm in pain all the time now, the pain from the surgery will be marginal.  

He has to shave part of the back of my head.  Not crazy about that, but... I said I'd do anything to get rid of the pain.  I'm scared of being hopeful.  I swear everything that could crash down on my head this week has.  I feel cursed or something.   Everything else I've tried to manage the migraines has failed so I'm scared to hope this will be the silver bullet.  

I had a horrific migraine today and am still not doing so well so I'm going to cut this short.

I am so happy for you!! My Anthem BC/BS insurance denied me. I haven't tried Medicare but will now since yours was approved. Can you ask your surgeon which medical codes he used for the insurance claim and inbox them to me here. Maybe my surgeon can use the same codes with my Medicare and get this approved.

We just did an emergency appeal to Anthem BC/BS and hope they will  approve it, we will know by Tuesday.

That is fantastic news. I look forward to hearing about your recovery! This surgery is on my list to investigate if Menopause does not give me adequate relief.

I'm waiting to hear from the nurse for my pre-registration. When I do, I will ask what codes they used. You can look up my surgeon on the net if you want to. His name is Azul Jaffer. He is a plastic surgeon in Sugarland, TX. He actually has a specific tab for the migraine surgery on his website. Maybe that will provide some answers too.

Thanks so much!!! We did an "emergency appeal" with Anthem BC/BS and are supposed to have their decision today. I am praying that God's mercy will prevail!

My husband called your surgeon in Sugarland TX and got the wording and the codes. They said Anthem BC/BS and Medicare both will accept those.

Thank you so much for giving me your surgeon's name because these guys have to stick together! I'll let you know what happens I know you must be getting excited, less than 2 weeks for you!
