Thank you Milo

Milo
Thank you for your post to our link for Migraine Nerve Decompression surgery. It is greatly appreciated. I wrote the following on that board this morning.

I have often said that the severity of the pain of migraine is the same as an amputation of a limb. Imagine your son or daughter at war and they step on am IED and an immediate amputation occurs of one or many of their limbs. When this child gets to the medic they are immediately treated with pain medication and everyone works quickly to end this horrific pain. Not so with migraine....At the height of migraine pain, it is so horrific I have wanted to die and this happens several times a month. This July it will be 2 years since I last went to the ER for help with this Migraine Monster. The ER doctor called me a "drug" seeker and told me to never come back to his ER again. I was in such agony and felt as though I had been labeled a liar, a drug seeker and unworthy to receive help. It was devastating to me. Because there is such rampant abuse of narcotic medication, doctors are very cautious. When migraine abortive medication stops working which is the treatment of choice and your Neurologist states you can't have anything stronger on that medication because of possible cardiac issues, narcotics seem to be the only thing left. So going into the hospital with an "invisible amputation" via migraine is challenging at best and degrading always.

I am writing this today because it hurts to be considered as less than. I want the Migraine Nerve Decompression surgery more than I can ever express. I want to wake up without pain every day, I want to find the joy in my salvation again. I want to finish the Master of Arts Degree I started and have a 3.0 GPA in. I want to ride a bike, go swimming, laugh, run and dance again. I want my husband to see me smiling into his face and telling him I love him, instead of crawling off to bed like a wounded dog day after day. This surgery yields a 50% reduction in migraine frequency within 90 days after surgery and 80-90% reduction in migraine within 6 months of surgery. If I get this surgery now, that means by next spring...all those things I mentioned above, those wonderful joyous things... I could be doing.

Thank you Migrainegirl and Milo. The sale is this Saturday May 24th. I have been emptying out my china hutch, packed away my china, etc. Cleaning and dusting, vacuuming and probably will pay for that with a head banger by morning...ugh!

Took my cat to the vet to get shaved, yes my cat will look like a big rat when he comes home today. He is shedding like crazy and it looks like my Family room was taken over by cat hair "tumbleweeds" Smile Oh, and I vacuumed all the furniture we are selling too.

I hope we get a good amount so I can move forward with this surgery. I am feeling so stressed out and gained 4 pounds in the last week...its my fault, my comfort food is a PBJ sandwich Smile
