5 weeks and counting! Empty 5 weeks and counting!

I can't count today so I'm not sure if this is week 5 or 6 since the surgery. I'm doing well, overall. I'm more active, more alert, etc..

At my last pain clinic apt, I requested they change my med from Dilaudid to Norco. I'm still taking Robaxin muscle relaxers and probably will always need something. My muscles just seem to enjoy being in a clenched position.

It seems that rainy weather will continue to a trigger for my migraines. We had a spectacular storm blow in this morning around 2 am. Lots of lightening and thunder, with rain. I normally like storms, but I've been in pain since this one blew in. I've had some nausea most of the day. Guess I shouldn't complain too much, I've lost some weight and that's a good thing. Today has been bad. I hurt a lot, but its still not as bad as before the surgery.

Wednesday, the surgeon released me and said how glad he is to see how far I've come since the surgery. He's asked me twice now to communicate with my neurologist and let her know how well this has worked out for me. He says Dr. Blake rides the fence a lot about referring patients for the procedure. He thinks that with my input, she will make more referrals and more patients can be free of migraines. I've had to reschedule her twice, but I'm going to send her a note and let her know how well I'm doing. He has a meeting with her next week, but I couldn't get in to see her before July 1st. I've advocated for this surgery with as many patient groups as I can communicate with. I guess the better route is for the referring doctors to know how well the surgery works.

I spent about 3 hours at the pool Wednesday after spending the morning traveling to Sugarland to see the doctor and come home. I did well, very little pain that day. That evening things got a little rough and I was tired yesterday. This damn storm blew in at 2 and I've been a mess since then.

I've taken all my meds and am just waiting for the pain to recede. I wish I could explain the difference between pain before surgery and pain after. The intensity is less and the tightness in my muscles is not as bad.

If you ever have the option for the surgery, take it. It makes a difference!!

I am glad the surgery made a difference to you, and hope it will continue to do so!

Kim
Sounds like you have been pretty active and I can guess its hard to make yourself slow down. Smile Remember you are still in the 90 day recovery window, try to take it easy and allow yourself to recover and heal Smile

I can't agree with you more, if anyone can get Migraine Nerve Decompression /excision surgery....do it! I am only 5 days post op from having all trigger sites decompressed or excised (whatever was needed) and feel better than I have in years Smile
