hey, looks like this post was missed by everyone, so sorry about that Wendy.
I personally never took Doxepin but I think I've heard it being used by some under other name- Sinequan.

I think it is a tri-cyclic antidepressant, similar to amitriptyline. Have you tried that already, and if yes, how's that working for you?

How many milligrams is in the pill you have right now?

Do you have any way to get booked with someone totally new?

Each pill is 25mg..so multiply by 6...

Just a tab bit concerned myself about the medications..the pharmacist told me not to take two of my med together because I could get too much of the SSRI..

I don't know.

Yes, I can choose another Kaiser doctor..just don't know what to do or how I feel... Embarassed No

Of course! I too, would be majorly confused by a dr who order me to take two conflicting medications Mad

Maybe call him and ask for an explanation - tell him what your pharmacist has told you.
btw 150mg - 6 x 25 = 150mg is not that terrible amount. From what i read online, some pple take up to 300mg.
But not with medication that is contra-indicated, of course.

For most patients with illness of mild to moderate severity, a starting daily dose of 75 mg is recommended. Dosage may subsequently be increased or decreased at appropriate intervals and according to individual response. The usual optimum dose range is 75 mg/day to 150 mg/day.

Regardless, please do go ahead and change the doctor.
I don't have this opportunity here, but if I did, I would search as long as I would until found someone I could trust.

Perhaps begin by writting down all the medications you've tried so far, how often and in what doses.

Sometimes adjusting the doses, changing the combo does make the difference.
For me, it was switching from Imitrex to Maxalt and taking it together with Percocet (at once). Ether alone won't work.
And for prevention, Topamax started veeerrry slowly. but like, reallyy slowly.

Then, if I may further suggest, write down what conditions were you diagnosed with for sure, what were suspected,
and what was off in your every test you ever did.

Hope that helps, sweetheart Doxepin..for migraine prevention Huggie11

Hi Wendy,

Yes, I tried doxepin. It helped a great deal with sleep, but on the flip side made me very groggy in the morning. And it ended up not helping at all with the migraines.

I went on cymbalta, a different anti-depressant for a different reason, lower back pain. It didn't help my back but Lordy has it helped my migraines!!! Down to 2-3 a month rather than over 15.

Another nice thing...cymbalta is weight neutral.

Oh, no... I hate it when medications have s/e like that.

Not enough we suffer like we suffer, in addition we have to battle weight gain, extreme exhaustion and plethora of other tiring
problems. We can never get a break!

Hopefully now that you've stopped, you'll be back to your natural pre- Doxepin weight. Fingers crossed!
