O-M-G !!!! Bin Laden -- is gone!!

I was sitting next to TV when I caught the news about Osama bin Laden dead:

Finally. Although I do not like to wish anyone dead, that guy was evil. Now we wait to see if there will be retaliation.

Agreed, Cindy. At first I wondered about burying him at sea. But then I realized the logic of it, his grave can not be turned in to a place of martyrdom. The will be no attacks to try and retrieve his body from wherever it was. Yes, I think perhaps it did make sense.

You know, I was one who thought he had been dead for years, that we were chasing a ghost. So the headline was quite a shock to me.

Martin Luther King Jr sums it up for me perfectly:

”I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that”

Yes, it's a dillema - one shouldn't be happy from a death of another man, even if he was evil, it's true.
But.. . he was a horrible, fanatical threat,
and I think people are happy not so much from Bin Ladden's being dead itself as from him not being a threat anymore.

And that's, indeed, good news.
