Neurontin anyone?
Years ago I took Neurontin and gained..I think like 10 pounds in 14 days..so obviously I stopped.
Now, I'm back on it..It's only been a couple of day though. Concerned because I already have hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia..ugh. No weight gain isn't the end of the world..just makes me feel yucky.
Is anyone here taking it and did you gain weight on it? Thanks guys!
Love you all..greeneyes

Re: Neurontin anyone?
I was on it about a year ago...it was horrible for me. I had a high pitched whine in my head 24/7, I couldn't stand it. I also thought about "hurting" myself with a knife.
It was bad business for me and I stopped it after 3 weeks.

Re: Neurontin anyone?
Neurontin is definitely one of the heavy hitters as far as preventatives, and a lot of people get relief from it. I was on Neurontin 200 mg 3x/day for a month. Didn't help my migraines. Only side effect was sleepiness, no weight gain. A lot of migraineurs switch from Depakote to Neurontin to *avoid* weight gain, but everyone's body is different.

Re: Neurontin anyone?
I use it, but not as a daily med. It's synergistic with Aleve, which means they make each other work better, sorry if I've told you this before, my mind's swiss cheeze tonight. So I take 900mg with Aleve as needed with my migraine meds. I have trouble with many of the narcotic pain meds, so my doc and I both feel better about me using this before resorting to the narc, because each time I take anything narcotic, I run the risk of finding another med I've developed an allergy to.
I'm sorry it's causing problems for some of you. I hope they find something that works, and doesn't have the icky side effects

Thank you Sara...my PCP and neurologist never mentioned taking Aleve with it..thank you. I'll have to have my hubby pick it up for me. Hope that you are doing well!

I gained weight super fast on it and stopped using it for that reason.

Re: Neurontin anyone?
Hi Greeneyeys,
Neurontin is old school...we know the effects. Weight gain is significant. If it happened then, it's going to do it now. Lyrica is the refined version (Brand) and can be more effective but does still carry a bunch of side effects and weight gain, maybe even moreso thatn Neurontin.
It can work, but the overall damage to your body, plus the neurocog risks need to be heavily weighed. no pun intended.
hope you're well,
PF

I gained 20 lbs on Lyrica and I can't say it helped any with the migraines. So not much of an improvement there I'm afraid.

Re: Neurontin anyone?
Thank you all so much for answering me. Eventhough I have fibromyalgia my doctors have never put me on Lyrica.
I meet up with a pain psychologist on the 27th..then they decide if the 8 week class will help me..hope everything goes well.
Love to all of you and thanks again my migraine angels!! greeneyes
