Are you guys reading anything interesting now, or read?

I started White Teeth by Zadie Smith, but somehow I can't get into it.

This book got a lot of hype when it first came out.
It's not too, bad, I just somehow am not in the mood for reading lately, oops...

This is very interesting - for some reason, I thought of Caleb Carr, I really liked his two books
The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness.

I Googled whether or not there is any new book coming out of his, and there is!
Only, and this is most curious, there is no info about what is it at all anywhere whatsoever!
A clever marketing trick, or what?

I so hoped it would be a third book of the Alienist series, but judging by the title, very little hope for this happening.

I am re-reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, in preparation for reading the sequel that is out now. It has been a while since I read it the first time. It is just as good the second time! There are 2 books I should be reading for our book club, but they will have to wait.
Hugs,
Cindy

Dont laugh but I am reading the 50 Shades trilogy. They are good. I am in the middle of the second book. I bought them at Costco in a set of three. It was cheaper even more so then if I bought them for my nook.

I love to hear what people are reading. I have not had time to read a book since April. My daughter graduated and the summer was filled with getting ready for college and my youngest daughter being a cheerleader.

I am a Happy Mom, but will miss my oldest!

Looks like you are in good company, K-mom!

There is definitely a buzz about Grey series- yesterday I heard on E! show - (Canadian version of Entertainment) an interview with Pink,
(a rock singer) and one of the questions was if she read the Shades of Grey - to which she replied- "yes, all three!"

That definitely piqued my curiosity and you bet, Kimsmom, it already is on my wish list at Chapters, lolol

Also, Kim- congrats on your daughter making it into college and cheerleading squad!!!

Thanks for the congrats Risa. I miss my oldest so much now that she is at College. We got her all moved in on Thursday. My youngest is very busy cheering but the three seniors on the squad love to push their age and weight around. It is making for an uncomfortable situation. Always something isnt it?!

I am on the third book on the Gray series.

I read all the Fifty Shades books also. I have been shamelessly passing them around to all my friends and family! Almost done with The Shadow of the Night (the Discovery of Witches trilogy). It is really good. Now I have to get myself to go back to The Blind Assasssin which we are reading for our book club.

I'm reading 3 books (which i'm not gaining much advancement in) on WWII concerning the eastern front.

Most of my readings are financial/tax related. But the real analytical part is still devoted to medicine. booooo.

You're on to me. Yup, I've been reading 50 Shades of.......yeah right!!!!!!

I just need a couple bottles of wine and my charming conversation. Women just love to hear about cardiac anatomy.

50 Shades, LOL. I have a few zingers, but I won't say it out of being polite.

Very Happy

I just finished very interesting 17th century mystery written by a descendant of an German executioner Jakob Kuisl (who is the main
character in the book) - Oliver Potzsch.

The books are excellently written - plot threads well planned, characters well, thoughtfully developed,
the plot enough complicated not to be guessed easily yet not overly complicated to the point of wanting to roll one eyes.

I highly recommend these books to not only mystery enthusiast but just anyone - you'll get to know a bit of what's life was like
in 17 century Bavarian Germany.

Oliver Potzsch The Hangman's Daughter

http://www.amazon.com/The-Hangmans-Daughter-ebook/dp/B003P9XMFI

the next in series is
The Dark Monk

http://www.amazon.com/The-Dark-Monk-Hangmans-ebook/dp/B006JTTK3O/ref=pd_sim_kstore_1

and already in print the third and I think final one in the series
(which I didn't read yet, but I am sure I'm in for a treat!)

The Beggar King

http://www.amazon.com/Beggar-King-Hangmans-Daughter-Tale/dp/054799219X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1352349759&sr=1-1&keywords=the+beggar+king+a+hangman%27s+daughter+tale

Hope you'll read it and enjoy it as much as I did it!

Risa
