Miserable and no change..grr..migraines
Hi Guys,
Having a difficult time. Migraines have been horrible..no change..feeling not getting anywhere. The only outing is going to the doctor once a month for an injection. Don't know what else to do.
Currently on Topamax again and Nadol..no change. Tried Botox again..nothing..Any advice?
Hope you guys are doing well. I think of you often. I have a horrible habit of withdrawing when I am doing badly when I should reach out. I love you all. God Bless!

I'm sorry to say, but feel free to join the 'ick' club. It' been a rough month, and I'll be glad when things finally break. Trinity and Tortoise Girl and I have all been there recently. I'm going to get off the computer, since I'm transposing letters, but take care.

Have you tried Depakote as a preventative yet? It has helped me, it doesn't end them or make them less painful, but I am having "fewer" migraines.
I still have really bad days too, but at least I know now that there are some decent days ahead as well
Hope you feel better and get a break.

Thanks for posting. It seems a lot of us have been kicked hard lately. I think it is really hard for many of us o log on and invest the energy and emotions needed to maintain the simplest of relationships when things are rough. It is great to know that there always is a listening and supportive ear when needed though.
Hang in there friends!

Sometimes when you are miserable all you can keep doing is plugging away at ideas, whether something new, something old, or a different combo. Eventually something has got to help. Unfortunately, it doesn't always last.
Some folks take longer to respond to meds too, or require a higher dose, so ensure your doctor is having you trial meds long enough and try various doses. However, I too unfortunately haven't found anything that gave me lasting significant relief except opiates (methadone is my med of choice).
I've been getting huge swings between low & high pain levels, which bothers me more than even constant moderate-severe pain. I've been doing slightly better at treating the acute severe episodes though, as I have a few abortive med options now. Best wishes.

Re: Miserable and no change..grr..migraines
Hi,
So sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time.
I am not sure if I have any ideas. I do have an occipital nerve stimulator that has really helped me a great deal. I don't know if something like this would help you or not. However, it might be worth looking into especially since you are having such a rough time. If nerve blocks have ever helped, it might be a good fit for you. I know it may sound drastic, but you have been through so much and I thought I would simply throw the idea out there. I can tell you that not nothing short of high doses of narcotics really helped before then and the stimulator does let the meds work better.
I wish I had more to offer right now. Do you have anything that helps the pain that you can take? Maybe it will help. What injection does the doctor give you? Is it time for one yet or can it be given more than once a month. When mine get bad I get an IV of fluids, benedyl, Phenergan, Depakan, and toradol at an IV/home health center. Maybe something like this will help?
All I can say is- hang in there. We are here for you whenever your need us. I'm sending prayers your way and Dora is pulling for you too.
Pain free days,

Sorry to hear Greeneyes!
I understand the uptick in migraines as well. Wish I had better advice, but when the monster rears itself, it really goes crazy.
