Overwhelmed
I'm so sorry to be so scarce. I'm afraid I have bit off way more then I can chew and I find that I never have time to go online anymore. I've been struggling since my surgery but am now at a point where I'm feeling more recovered. The problem is that my life is very full with work and school and the demands of it all are totally stressing me out. I should have dropped some courses this semester but I'm too stubborn! Now I'm paying the price and each paper adds more stress. My stupid head sucks and its getting harder and harder to make it through a work day. I can't wait until this semester is over!
I hope you are all doing ok. . I miss you friends!

Re: Overwhelmed
understand milo. things have been quite tough for a lot of us.
i've had my fair share of stuff. the next day really doesn't seem to get any better than they day before. migraines are steady--but the rest of my body are posing mega issues.
take care and hang in.

hang in there Milo
I know how you feel, I was about halfway through my Masters Degree and had to withdraw from Seminary due to the migraines. I am hoping to finish it once I get myself together again, and I do plan to get my self in order

Re: Overwhelmed
Hi there everyone! I read, but I haven't had it in me to post lately. You all mean a lot to me though! And it is nice to see Trinity join us.
Anna is doing pretty ok. About four weeks ago, something changed for her. She is on pain meds, but now they actually help her. I know that sounds strange, but she's been on them for a long, long time (with short breaks now and then). And they have never helped this much.
Which may mean her brain may be actually healing from her last brain surgery on July 11. At least we hope so. She had a lot of scar tissue removed from the back of her skull in that surgery and her neurosurgeon "untethered" her dura patch (from the last brain surgery in 2008) which had tethered to her cerebellum. Her nausea and vomiting are greatly improved since surgery.
So I guess this is a happy update. We'll take what we can get.
Hugs to everyone here!

Re: Overwhelmed
Thank you, Trinity. I'm very glad you seem to be doing better also.
Anna is almost 30 years old, and she has had several surgeries due to a condition called Chiari Malformation.

Re: Overwhelmed
I"ve been wondering what happened to you Milo.
I have to admit it took me awhile to realize your absence, and I apologize for that. I was about to email you myself when I noticed your last post asking about the device.
So glad to see your update, letting us know how the things are with you.
Please don't be unnecessarily stubborn, sweetie. Maybe do get rid of something that matter least, and you'll see how on the whole
you will feel better, more energetic and in the end - perhaps even perform better. not to imply you don't do now!
Cheryl - I am up to date with Anna's story thanks to Caring Bridge I subscribe and get email notifications about latest entries.
I was very happy to read about her better response to the pain meds, which is great!
I was wondering if apart from removing the scar tissue, simply being older can also be a factor. I remember that at one point,
in my own migraine history certain drugs that never or hardly ever worked before quickly started to.
I think sometimes, when we get older, the disease or disorder sort of "runs its course" or at least "changes its course" - and things finally
get better. woo-hoo !!
Nice to see you here, girls!

Re: Overwhelmed
I would sure like to think her pain is "burning out." Her doctor used to always say this would happen until we hit the fifth year or so. Then he stopped saying it! We will soon be thirteen years into this!
Thanks, Risa!

Re: Overwhelmed
hi cheryl. good to hear from you and the best to anna and your family.
i didn't think the "guy" that worked on the contraption was any type of physician let alone a neurosrg.
i'd be very hesitant in tring any type of vascular contstrictment via a device. even if the blood supply in some form of migraine is painful, shutting off flow can cause much, much more problems than a migraine.
i've been labeled as a "vasculopath" due to the inflammation and damage to my arteries and veins. i have to see a vascular surgeon for a vein the that is quite bulging from my right bicept. i even have collateral vein growth around my pacemaker.
something all of us should get is a vascular doppler ultrasound of our carotids and vertebrals. i had one showing mild blockage but the vessel walls are thickening..
i'm having significant change for my age. one of my docs said we don't see this in 30+ year old patients, but 70-80 year olds.
interesting.
again, wishing the best for y'all.

Re: Overwhelmed
So glad Anna is doing better!!
Hang in there Milo. Grad school is immensely demanding, even for people with out the challenges of migraine. Try not to make yourself crazy. If you need to drop a class or take an incomplete do so.
