Finding a GP in Canada
I know most people think that Canada has this great healthcare system, but it really sucks in real life.
I have been looking forever for a GP and cannot find one, no matter what I do. There are no doctors accepting new patients around here.
This makes having my migraines so much worse! I hate begging for medications from strangers, so many of whom have major attitudes about pain medication. It gets sooooooo frustrating!

Re: Finding a GP in Canada
Oh I KNOW !!!! I am from BC, where are you from?
And once you find one, you are forced to stick to him or her whether you like it or not,
otherwise you are without one again.
And try to go a specialist!
The one you don't like, you are ushered in in two weeks time but if you want a real professional of your choice,
the waiting list can be as long as one year. ONE YEAR, people!!
This is beyond reasonable.
the only good thing about our health care system is - we don't have to pay for this mess,
not directly.
here's an excerpt from Wiki how's it's funded:
In general, costs are paid through funding from income taxes, although British Columbia is the only province to impose a fixed monthly premium which is waived or reduced for those on low incomes[3]. There are no deductibles on basic health care and co-pays are extremely low or non-existent (supplemental insurance such as Fair Pharmacare may have deductibles, depending on income).
For certain services which are not covered thru our Med Coverage like:
a psychologist, massages, chiropractor,
sometimes a private insurance companies like Blue Cross can cover that.
All in all it sucks big time.
I've noticed you posted this in Oct, have you found somebody yet, hopefully?
