Hard times right now
My head is so bad right now. Last night it kept me up all night, which is very rare for me. I was in so much pain and now it's a different headache then I normally get, though I have all the usual sensitivities and other fun stuff like feeling like puking my guts out.
I am an uuber, uuber bitch today as well cus I'm in so much pain. I HATE this!

Re: Hard times right now
You have been under under a lot of stress for a long time. Your migraines, then your wife's health, your friends suicide and aftermath, and now unrelated and concerning new health issues. Whereas we know stress is not the cause of migraines, we also know that it can trigger them.
I imagine you're not sleeping well, which is also a trigger.
I'm sure that's why your head is magnified. I think once you get answers to your female issues, you'll find your head improving too.
Sending you cyber (((((hugs)))))

Thankfully I woke this morning with it gone. That was one of those "suicidal" ones. I accidently had splenda so I think it came from that. I'm just so very glad it's not here right now. phew

Re: Hard times right now
Milo,
I am in a very bad period too. Too many tough situations all together and migraine is hitting hard.
As Charlotte said very well, stress is not a cause but it increases the chances to have migraine.
I really hope that it will soon end for us all...

I didn't realize splenda was culprit too. Isn't that made from natural products? Thanks for the warning, I was eyeballing a product with it the other day. I'm trying to lose weight and doing a good job with exercise and eating better.
Aspartime gives me fits, so I'm sure I'd probably have problems then with splenda too.

Re: Hard times right now
Splenda is just as evil as aspertame.
I am having a tough time figuring out why I'm so bad with migraines right now, I should be ok, as I'm mid-botox cycle and should be in my clear period.
Here are the things that were different this week then last.
1) tried a new beer
2) tried a new eye make-up
3) started using more of a product that I had been testing as a hand soap. The soap didn't trigger me, but on Thursday I went and bought the rest of the line and used a bunch of it.
4)I switched my deodorants back to one I've used before (dunno my head status while using it)
5) The docs have me taking an anti-inflammatory for the bleed
6) The splenda incident
So what do you think is causing such hell?????
Which ones should I stop? I already stopped the smelly product, as it seems like a no brainer, but my head is starting up again today.

This is a no brained, but what kind of weather fronts do you have moving in?

Re: Hard times right now
There has been weather changes, so it could be that as well, though I don't seem to trigger from that too often.
I faxed my pain doc to beg him to see me or order something for me.
I don't actually know what to even ask for. If the gravergol and t3's don't work for me I don't know what to ask for. Let's hope he has an idea.

Re: Hard times right now
Wow...his nurse booked me in to see him...well, snuck me in. And my boss even granted me the time off to go...so I'll be heading out there in a bit. Now...do I drive or not???? That is the question.
***update*** I'm not going to drive even though the weather here is disgusting...I will take transit and suffer the wrath of nature. UGH

Re: Hard times right now
Ok, so this is my first major exacerbation since I started seeing my pain specialist. Last time I was like this I ended up in ER several times.
But now I'm connected to a pain specialist. So I called....well, my wife did...and his nurse/ assistant called and snuck me in. All she asked was if I was sill in pain and when I said yes she actually fit me in to his lunch hour. This is the same specialist that took about a year and a half to get in to see.
So he saw me and offered me some triptans. Triptans tend to be only a short-term solution for me, but I readily took one anyways as I was desperate. He gave me several different trial packs to take with me. All ones I've tried before, but free is always nice.
He assessed my neck and poked my head a bunch and determined that I was having some nerves pinched in my neck. He then gave me about 15-20 very, very painful injections. He did several nerve blocks as well as froze a bunch of muscles in my neck and shoulder. My head is still totally frozen on one side. Can't even feel it....would be a good time to cut up my head if I had a reason to cut up my head.
These were very, very painful...I actually screamed several times and ended up crying when he was done. He does these very quickly, but it feels like it takes forever.
He also gave me a bunch of very strong painkillers and told me to take some time off work. He and I both know that means I'll take the afternoon off and return tomorrow.
I told my wife on the drive home that I would much prefer to see him and go through the painful hell then to go to ER. And that was before I could even tell if the treatment was effective.
I'm doing ok right now. I've had axert twice now in the last four hours, laid down for a bit and have some of the freezing coming out of my head. I've also had two percocets. The hardest part of the migraine has eased, though I'm still sensitive to sounds, smells and other exernal stimuli. Let's hope it continues and that I wake without it.
This treatment is what the migraine specialist recommended. If any of you remember, I got connected to a nice migraine specialist fresh out of the Mayo Clinic but she moved to another country right after we met, so she never treated me mid-episode.
I feel as though there is hope. Even if I needed to wait several days to see him, I would still rather see him then go to ER. I hate going to ER...especially for a migraine.
Sorry if this is disjointed...I'm a bit out of it at this point.

Re: Hard times right now
I am envious. I'm only 6 months into 'the list' and don't even have a date yet for the first appointment. I can only hope I'm getting a good specialist.
So glad you are feeling better.
Could you PM me and let me know which doctor you have?

Re: Hard times right now
OMG...in so much pain.
I'm at work...I was good though, I did take part of the morning. I had my own patients to see and really needed to come in...I couldn't leave them hanging, as there is no one to cover for me right now.
I have all the symtpoms of a migraine, but way less pain...that is..until a knife started stabbing in to my right eye.
I'd give anything to go back to just having a daily headache...lol...stupid migraines. UGH
Talk more when I'm functioning again. Can't wait to get home and take something.

Hope your home now and were able to take a couple percs and relax. I was so hoping this would break for you after the injections.

Re: Hard times right now
I just took a maxalt and two tylenol 3's. If that doesn't work I'll perk up....lol
I also ordered in some dimsum and wor wonton...I've not eaten for two days now...so I figure the wonton soup should go down ok and there is a bit of veggies and meat.

Re: Hard times right now
The maxalt stomped on my head but it really upset my stomach. I managed to eat though, so that's good.
Now I'm going to sit and worry about the aspertame derivitive that's in it and hope that it doesn't trigger yet another.

Re: Hard times right now
I'm actually doing ok now. I am still having the migraine, but the pain is tolerable for the most part, then when I get home I take something and it gets me through the evening and to sleep.
I'll be happy when it's completed it course though. I need a break!
