Took first cymbalta today

The pain has gotten to much...it's not that it's so bad, my pain management keeps it at a 2/3 it's just so constant. Day in day out. Today, I went to work and just started crying and couldn't stop crying.

As an administrator that's when I'm afraid I'm gonna take someones head off.

My neuro recommended cymbalta at my last appt while I sat there crying. So I filled it today. I took 1/2 a dose and slept for 8 hours! Phew. I think I'll take it at night or I'll be snoozing in my Grape Nuts.

I'm hoping I get a two fer, relief from the back pain, and relief from the depression the pain is causing.

Now, hers hoping I can sleep tonight since I slept all day

Anyone else use and antidepressant?

Yes. I'm on Lexapro and I've just begun amitriptyline, both for the migraines. The Lexapro doesn't make me sleepy, but it wasn't as effective as it was when I began it. I just began the amitriptyline Sunday, and they warned me to take it at bedtime, it makes me just as sleepy.

I'm considering cyclobenzaprine but I'm scared of the sedation.

Is that the same as klonopin?

Actually, I love the idea of sleepiness. Called the pharmacy no problem taking it at night instead of a.m.

After taking a 2 year break from experimenting with preventatives I went back to my neuro and decided to try cymbalta. I can have extreme reactions to meds so took a small dose last week. Unfortunately it kept me up all night with a racing heart and nausea and then I ended up dry heaving in the morning and collapsing on the bathroom floor. I have made my husband and best friend promise to not let me try any more preventatives. My daughter though has found successful with elavil which is another type of anti-depressant. I hope the cymbalta works for you - anti-depressants can be very effective for migraine relief! L

If that was referring to milo's post, it's flexiril, a muscle relaxant (google)

If you were referring to mine, they're both anti-depressants, but neither is klonipin. I do have a script for klonipin...I use it for flight anxiety. If I could just give a breathalyser and a flight simulator to the pilot, I could cut this, but the airlines would rather I medicate.

Day two, and man I slept wonderfully. Still only taking half the amount. I'll stay at that for a couple week cause I'm still pretty groggy and stumbly in the a.m. I do beleive I could sleep 24 hours. But for someone who has a wicked time sleeping, this is marvelous.
